Grumman EA-6B Prowler

Claim to Fame

For several decades most every US combat mission has seen the use of an EA-6B Prowler. After the retirement of the EA-111, its tactical capability to jam enemy radar was unique. In addition to jamming, current EA-6's can also destroy radar and missile sites with anti-radiation missiles and gather electronic intelligence. The four seat EA-6 is a derivative of the two seat A-6 Intruder attack plane. The Navy is in the process of replacing the EA-6 with the EA-18 Growler version of the Hornet, further eroding the once dominate place Grumman (now Northrup Grumman) held on Navy flight decks.

Interesting EA-6B Prowler Fact

The EA-6B canopy is gold tinted to protect the crew from radiation.
