What's the Air Force's Problem?
The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) has lost it's court case to retain possession of a F-82 that it has owned since 1968. For reasons unclear a general at the U.S. Air Force Museum decided he wanted the plane back. This is despite the Air Force having donated the plane to the CAF over 30 years ago. When I was a kid, we called such transactions Indian giving, but I imagine that's not an appropriate thing to say anymore.
The reminds me of a case from 2004 when the navy insisted on claiming a WWII Corsair that an individual had pulled from a North Carolina swamp. The navy had full knowledge of the whereabouts of the plane for 46 years, yet let is sit there. I will also point out that if the military has a passion for preserving aircraft, it has come about suddenly. Check out this photo of B-17's awaiting destruction after the war:

If not for the efforts of civilians, there would be even fewer warbirds than we have now. The military needs to stand down on this issue, their bullying does them no credit.
