Alisport Silent 2 Targa

The Alisport Silent 2 Targa is a single-seat sailplane developed in Italy in the early 2000s based on the single-seat Silent Club. Construction fuselage is similar, the wings were given a non linear geometry and the non linear geometry horizontal stabilizer varies in pitch with the different flaperons setting, thus the absence of conventional spring trim.

The light weight enable this sailplane to out-climb everyone else, but when it comes to fly fast it will also sink fast. The roll rate 45 to 45 is less then 3 seconds making you feel flying like a jet. Controls are very light and well harmonized.

It has flaperons with five settings controlled by a lever on the left side of the cockpit above the handle of the Shempp-Hirth type spoilers.

With a generous rudder it enters a coordinated turn applying only side stick, once banked rudder is applied to stay coordinated.

Behind conventional tow planes it climbs very fast and with the new Tost tow hook about 30 centimeters below the nose it follows the tug very easily.

Because of the very low inertia landings can be very short.

Rigging and de-rigging is facilitated by automatic and simple hook ups and the very light wings: 35 kg each. The horizontal stabilizer feels like a feather, a single bolt hold it and secure it to the vertical stabilizer.

It has a hinged canopy, a mushroom instrument panel, rudder pedals can be adjusted in flight. Removable wing tips are held to the wings by a long tube inserted into the wings, no bolts or other devices, only sealing gap tape.
